Renaissance Capital to host annual emerging markets investor conference June 28-29
Moscow, June 23, 2010 – Renaissance Capital, the emerging markets investment bank, announces it will hold its 14th Annual Investor Conference here on June 28-29, 2010. The event will gather over 2,000 institutional investors, corporate executives and senior government officials for two days of lively debate and one-on-one meetings.
This year’s conference, organized around the theme “Russia and the CIS – Going Global”, focuses on the world’s emerging markets, their synergies, opportunities for cooperation, and rising significance on the global economic stage. Representatives from Russian, Indian, Chinese, Central Asian, Eastern European, Middle Eastern and African companies will be in attendance.
President Bill Clinton, founder of the William J. Clinton Foundation and 42nd President of the United States, will give a keynote address on June 29. Other current and former government officials speaking at the conference include former Nigerian president His Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Alexei Kudrin, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation Arkady Dvorkovich, Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Sergei Tihipko.
Russian corporate leaders who will speak at the event include UC RUSAL CEO Oleg Deripaska, Severstal CEO Alexei Mordashov and ONEXIM Group President Mikhail Prokhorov. Senior executives from other emerging market companies to speak at the conference include Executive Co-Chairman and CEO of Mongolia’s Ivanhoe Energy and Ivanhoe Mines Robert Friedland, President and CEO of Dubai’s SHUAA Capital Sameer Al Ansari, Managing Director and CEO of India’s Kotak Investment Banking Falguni Nayar and CEO of Equity Bank Kenya James Mwangi.
The move to broaden the conference from its traditional focus on Russia to encompass a wider range of emerging markets reflects the expansion of Renaissance Capital’s business to new emerging and frontier markets. Over the past year Renaissance Capital has executed transactions in 18 emerging market countries: Cameroon, Croatia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Guinea, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Poland, Russia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Uganda, Ukraine, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The Firm is currently working on transactions in an additional 12 countries.
Renaissance Capital’s annual conference is the largest invitation-only gathering of investors and CIS corporates to be held in Moscow. Over the course of the conference, Renaissance Capital is arranging more than 2,000 one-on-one meetings between investors and corporates from Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
